UiTMSAT-2, the first nanosatellite designed, developed, and led entirely by an ASEAN university, deployed from the ISS on February 3, 2026. Built by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malaysia as the culmination of the multi-year ASEANSAT program — a collaboration also involving universities in the Philippines and Thailand, mentored by Japan's Kyushu Institute of Technology — the 1U CubeSat carries a high-resolution Earth-imaging camera and an IoT satellite communications payload designed for smart agriculture and disaster monitoring across Southeast Asia. It follows UiTMSAT-1's 2018 mission, which first put Malaysia on the nanosatellite map.
