China's disaster monitoring satellite provides 30-meter multispectral imagery with a 2-day revisit for emergency response. During China's 2008 Sichuan earthquake, HJ-1A provided the first imagery of mountain valleys where roads were destroyed, guiding helicopter rescue to survivors completely cut off from ground access.
