NigeriaSat-X, launched alongside NigeriaSat-2 in 2011 but built with a deliberate difference: Nigerian engineers themselves designed and constructed it at Surrey Satellite Technology's facility as part of a hands-on training program, making it the first satellite substantially built by Nigerian nationals rather than solely by foreign contractors.
