A Eutelsat all-electric satellite at 117°W providing Ka-band high-throughput broadband for the Americas. Eutelsat-117 West B was built using the revolutionary Boeing 702SP all-electric platform — the same technology as ABS-3A, the satellite used gravity and electric ion thrusters over months to reach geostationary orbit rather than conventional chemical propulsion. The Ka-band capacity serves US and Mexican broadband markets, with Eutelsat competing directly against ViaSat and HughesNet for American satellite internet customers.
