CentiSpace-1 S1, launched in 2018, is a Chinese commercial technology demonstration satellite testing GNSS augmentation signals designed to push positioning accuracy from BeiDou's standard several-meter precision down toward centimeter level — the kind of accuracy autonomous vehicles, precision agriculture, and robotic construction equipment genuinely need but standard satellite navigation alone can't reliably deliver. It's an early building block toward a planned larger Chinese commercial augmentation constellation, sitting alongside BeiDou rather than replacing it.
