Second satellite of the fourth Yaogan-36 SAR formation, one of the newer groups in China's rapidly expanding radar reconnaissance program. By this fourth generation, Yaogan-36 had established a launch cadence matching the aggressive early years of the older Yaogan-30 ELINT program, suggesting a deliberate strategic priority on building out this newer, more capable successor constellation.
