SES mPOWER-A F1, the first satellite of SES's next-generation O3B mPOWER medium-Earth-orbit broadband constellation, launched December 2022. Where the original O3B satellites proved that MEO broadband could rival fiber-like latency, mPOWER dramatically scales up the concept — each satellite carries thousands of fully digital, individually steerable beams that can be reshaped and redirected from the ground in real time, letting SES redirect bandwidth to wherever demand spikes: a cruise ship, a disaster zone, a temporary military deployment. It represents SES's answer to the competitive pressure from Starlink and other LEO broadband constellations.
