HBTSS-SV1, the companion satellite to HBTSS-SV2 in the Missile Defense Agency's Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor program, part of the same February 2024 launch that put two rival prototype missile-tracking satellites into orbit for a head-to-head test. The winning design has since collected over 650,000 images of test events and real-world targets, and the Missile Defense Agency has already begun designing a follow-on 'Discriminating Space Sensor' specifically to tell a real incoming warhead apart from decoys and countermeasures.
