The second satellite in China's third-generation Yunhai atmospheric sensing program, launched in 2024 from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. Yunhai-3 continues the GNSS radio occultation mission pioneered by Yunhai-2 but incorporates design refinements from years of operational experience — China's pattern of iteratively improving each successive generation of a satellite program rather than freezing a design and running it unchanged for decades.
