SATELIOT_3 is one of the four satellites Spanish IoT operator Sateliot put into orbit together on August 16, 2024's Transporter-11 mission, part of a rapid build-out toward a planned constellation exceeding 100 satellites by 2028. Sateliot's technical bet is that satellites can act as mobile network towers in space, providing 5G NB-IoT coverage using the same open 3GPP standard that ground-based carriers already use, so devices don't need any special satellite hardware to connect. The company forecasts connecting more than 8 million devices for customers already under contract, largely in agriculture, logistics, livestock tracking, and critical-infrastructure monitoring—markets where a sensor might sit for years in a location with no cell tower for hundreds of miles. This launch, part of Sateliot's 'Revolution' mission, moved the company from a purely developmental phase into what its CEO called the start of real revenue generation, and was watched by mission stakeholders in a public event in Barcelona.
