Planet Labs' Pelican-4 — one of the fourth-generation imaging satellites representing Planet's sharpest eyes in orbit. The Pelican constellation is Planet's answer to Maxar and Airbus: a 30 cm resolution system capable of revisiting any location up to 30 times per day with a 32-satellite constellation. Each Pelican carries a Cassegrain telescope with a 4.03-meter effective focal length — capable of distinguishing an object the size of a laptop from 320 miles up. Pelican-4 launched August 26, 2025 aboard a SpaceX Falcon-9 NAOS rideshare from Vandenberg. It was commissioned in late 2025 as part of the constellation that helped Planet turn its first profitable year as a company.
