Part of ORBCOMM's founding VHF satellite constellation, launched 1998 to prove that small, simple satellites could deliver a viable commercial data relay business. ORBCOMM FM04 orbits at a distinctive 108° inclination distinct from most of its sibling satellites, part of the constellation's original multi-plane design intended to maximize global message delivery frequency for asset-tracking customers.
