Reimei (Index), a Japanese science satellite launched in 2005 to study the aurora — imaging the northern and southern lights with high-speed cameras to understand how charged particles from the solar wind create the visible glow. It has produced some of the sharpest scientific auroral imagery of any dedicated spacecraft.
