China's primary direct-to-home broadcasting satellite, providing satellite TV access to Chinese households across the country and into Southeast Asia. Zhongxing-9 carries 22 Ku-band transponders delivering China Central Television (CCTV) and hundreds of provincial channels to satellite dish owners in areas underserved by cable. In China, satellite TV remains the primary way rural households access television — Zhongxing-9 keeps that access alive for hundreds of millions of viewers.
