Jugnu, a nanosatellite built entirely by students at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, launched in 2011 to test a miniaturized near-infrared camera for agricultural monitoring — one of the earliest Indian university satellites, named after the Hindi word for 'firefly.'
