A Japanese commercial satellite extending Sky Perfect JSAT's Ku-band coverage across the Asia-Pacific. JCSAT-13 serves Japan's maritime industry — one of the world's largest — providing vessel communications and broadband to ships operating across the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Japan's dependence on maritime trade for virtually all its natural resource imports makes satellite communications for shipping a matter of economic security.
