The second Luch-5 satellite, extending Russian orbital communications relay coverage. Luch-5B supports Russian-segment ISS operations and relays data from Russian Earth observation satellites to ground stations during the majority of their orbit when they're over oceans or foreign territory. Russia's data relay capability significantly reduces the number of ground stations required to operate its space program.
