Telesat's Anik satellite combining Canadian domestic communications with Latin American market coverage and X-band military capacity for Canadian government users. Anik G1's X-band payload serves the Canadian military's Arctic sovereignty communications — the satellite links remote surveillance posts, coast guard vessels, and military installations across Canada's Arctic archipelago where no other communications infrastructure exists.
