ESA's vegetation monitoring satellite continued the vegetation coverage product originally from SPOT-4 and SPOT-5 — mapping Earth's entire plant cover every 2 days at 300-meter resolution. Its data tracked advancing desertification in the Sahel, monitored Amazon deforestation in near-real time, and provided global crop condition data for the UN FAO's food security early warning system.
