LEMUR-1, the first satellite ever launched by Spire Global (then operating as Nanosatisfi), deployed in 2014 as a technology-proving mission years before the company built its now-massive constellation. LEMUR-1 tested the core sensor and communications concepts that would define the entire LEMUR-2 fleet — GPS radio occultation for weather, AIS for ship tracking — establishing the foundation for what has since grown into one of the world's largest commercial CubeSat networks.
