Lead satellite of the Yaogan-30 group 04 triplet, launched January 25, 2018 — the fourth Yaogan-30 formation in four months, an almost monthly cadence unprecedented for any Chinese classified satellite program to that point. By early 2018, China operated twelve Yaogan-30 satellites across four orbital planes, a naval surveillance density that dramatically compressed the time between successive triangulation passes over any given stretch of Pacific ocean.
