KhalifaSat, the UAE's most advanced satellite and the first Emirati satellite designed and built primarily by Emirati engineers themselves rather than a foreign contractor — a deliberate technology-transfer milestone on the country's path from its first satellite in 2009 to its Hope Mars Mission and national astronaut program barely a decade later. It delivers 70 cm resolution imagery and is named in honor of the UAE's founding ruler, Sheikh Khalifa.
