The third MetOp completes Europe's polar weather trio. MetOp-C and MetOp-B together revisit every point on Earth four times daily. Its ASCAT scatterometer measures wind speed over the entire global ocean — essential for detecting rogue waves and safely routing shipping through the Southern Ocean's legendary storms.
