One of ICEYE's earliest operational SAR satellites, launched in 2019 as the Finnish company's commercial constellation began taking real shape after the 2018 proof-of-concept ICEYE-X1. Early ICEYE satellites operated with 10-meter resolution and a 50×25-mile swath — modest by today's Gen4 standards of 16 cm resolution, but revolutionary at the time as the first operational microsatellite-based X-band SAR sensors ever deployed for commercial use, offering all-weather, day-night Earth monitoring at a fraction of the cost of traditional large radar satellites.
