BeiDou-3 M24, one of the last satellites needed to complete China's global BeiDou-3 constellation, launched as the system approached its formal July 2020 completion declaration. With BeiDou-3 fully operational, China joined an exceptionally small club — only the US, Russia, the EU, and China have ever built and operated a complete, independent, global satellite navigation system, a technical and strategic achievement that took China roughly a quarter-century to reach from its first tentative regional BeiDou-1 satellites.
