An Indian commercial communications satellite entirely leased to Tata Play (formerly Tata Sky) for direct-to-home television distribution across India. CMS-02 represents a new commercial model for ISRO — leasing complete satellite capacity to a private operator rather than managing commercial services directly. Tata Play uses it to deliver its premium HD and 4K television channels to millions of Indian subscribers.
