A Galaxy C-band satellite at 91°W serving US cable television distribution. Galaxy-31 is part of SES's fleet renewal program — replacing older C-band satellites as they reach end of life, ensuring continuity of the C-band distribution infrastructure that the US cable industry has relied upon for 40 years. Despite streaming's rise, cable operators still use satellite C-band for the 'linear' channels that carry live sports, news, and scheduled programming that audiences haven't migrated to on-demand.
