SITRO-AIS 6 (Chirkin), Part of Russia's first privately-built, space-based ship-tracking network — a 3U CubeSat named after one of the engineers who helped build the very constellation it now flies in. SITRO-AIS listens for the AIS transponder signals every large vessel is required to broadcast, tracking ship positions across open ocean specifically so Russia never has to depend on a foreign company's maritime surveillance data again. Sitronics Group plans over 70 of these by the late 2020s.
