Second of the SDA's WILDFIRE-designated Tracking Layer satellites, part of Tranche 0's demonstration that low-Earth-orbit missile tracking is both feasible and dramatically more resilient than the traditional geostationary approach. A constellation of dozens of small tracking satellites is far harder for an adversary to disable with anti-satellite weapons than a handful of large, expensive, easily-targeted satellites — the core strategic logic behind the SDA's entire proliferated architecture.
