The 16th SuperDove in Planet Labs' Flock 4Q batch, launched November 11, 2023 on SpaceX's Transporter-9 rideshare mission alongside the Pelican-1 high-resolution technology demonstrator. Flock 4Q 16 operates the PSB.SD 8-band sensor at 3-meter resolution — one of 36 identical SuperDoves from this single launch. The simultaneous deployment of 36 imaging satellites in one rocket shot is something that would have seemed impossible to satellite engineers a decade ago, yet it's now routine for Planet. Each Transporter rideshare adds another layer of coverage and redundancy to the constellation that collectively generates more Earth imagery per day than all other commercial imaging operators combined.
