PACE (Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem), NASA's flagship ocean color satellite, carrying the most advanced hyperspectral ocean sensor ever flown — capable of identifying specific types of phytoplankton by their unique color signature, distinguishing harmful algal blooms from harmless ones, and tracking how aerosol pollution interacts with cloud formation, one of the biggest remaining uncertainties in climate models.
