Japan's ALOS-4 carries the most powerful L-band SAR ever flown — 3 times the power of ALOS-2 with 1-meter capability. L-band radar penetrates forest canopies to measure the trees beneath — enabling forest carbon stock measurement from orbit that will underpin the next generation of verified carbon credit markets worth hundreds of billions of dollars.
