BRO-15 is the second half of a pair launched together on August 16, 2024's Transporter-11 mission, joining France's Breizh Reconnaissance Orbiter fleet of maritime spy satellites. Like its sibling BRO-14, it's an 8U CubeSat carrying Unseenlabs' spectrum-monitoring payload—essentially a radio-frequency detector tuned to pick up the electromagnetic chatter that every ship, whether it wants to be found or not, inevitably emits. That capability matters most for vessels that have deliberately disabled their AIS transponders to hide illegal activity: overfishing, unauthorized transshipment, sanctions-busting oil transfers, or simple piracy. Unseenlabs has continued expanding the constellation well past this pair, with additional launches on Falcon 9, Electron, and even Japan's H3 rocket, working toward roughly 20 satellites providing near-continuous maritime domain awareness for government and commercial customers who need to know what's moving across the ocean when the ships themselves refuse to say.
