One of China's Yaogan ('Remote Sensing') satellites — officially civilian Earth observation, widely assessed as military reconnaissance. Yaogan-3's SAR sensor images Earth in radar regardless of weather or darkness, monitoring Chinese coasts and tracking foreign naval movements. The series has grown to dozens of satellites providing China near-continuous global maritime awareness.
