Lead satellite of the Yaogan-30 group 03 triplet, launched December 25, 2017 — the third Yaogan-30 formation in exactly three months, positioned in a plane 120° east of the original group 01. This launch cadence, a new triplet roughly every month through the winter of 2017-2018, revealed the scale of China's ambition for the program well before most Western analysts had assessed its true naval surveillance significance.
