Europe's first dedicated high-throughput Ka-band broadband satellite, operated by Avanti Communications. HYLAS-1 ('Highly Adaptable Satellite') brought satellite broadband to underserved communities in the UK, Ireland, and across Europe with a flexible payload that could be reconfigured to concentrate capacity where demand was highest. Avanti pioneered the European satellite broadband market for rural and enterprise customers who lack terrestrial broadband alternatives.
