Part of Russia's Gonets-M ('Herald') satellite messaging constellation — the Russian equivalent of ORBCOMM, providing store-and-forward data relay for remote sensors, vehicle tracking, and environmental monitoring across Russia's vast and often roadless territory. Gonets satellites are particularly important across Siberia and the Russian Arctic, where no cellular network will ever economically reach and satellite messaging remains the only practical connectivity option.
