A Gazprom Space Systems high-power Ku-band satellite providing expanded communications capacity for Russia and the Middle East. Yamal-402 was built by Thales Alenia Space — a final example of Western-Russian commercial satellite cooperation before sanctions and political deterioration made such projects impossible.
