A member of the Astra 28.2°E fleet — Sky UK's home satellite position, carrying UK satellite television to over 11 million Sky subscribers. The 28.2°E position is optimized for the UK and Ireland, where Sky's high-power spot beams deliver the signal to smaller 45 cm dishes even in Scotland and Ireland where the satellite appears lower on the horizon. Astra-2E's UK spot beam is specifically shaped to cover the British Isles with minimum spillover into continental Europe — keeping Sky UK channels accessible in Britain while managing rights issues elsewhere.
