A joint French-Italian military broadband satellite providing Ka-band connectivity for French and Italian defense forces. ATHENA-FIDUS (Access on THEaters and NATO operations — French and Italian Dual Use Satellite) represents the only jointly owned military satellite between two European nations. It supports high-data-rate applications like UAV data links, intelligence imagery relay, and battlefield video that X-band military satellites cannot provide at sufficient speed.
