Argentina's first domestically designed and built communications satellite — a major achievement for South American space technology. ARSAT-1 was built by INVAP, the Argentine technology company that also builds research reactors and medical equipment. It provides direct-to-home TV, broadband internet, and government communications across Argentina. Building ARSAT domestically was a strategic choice: Argentina wanted satellite manufacturing capability, not just satellite services — and ARSAT-1 proved the country could deliver it.
