A NavIC satellite completing India's geostationary navigation component. NavIC operates in L5 and S-band frequencies — S-band is unique to NavIC and penetrates ionospheric interference more effectively than the L-band frequencies used by GPS and other global systems, making NavIC particularly accurate during periods of high solar activity when the ionosphere is most disturbed.
