An SES high-throughput satellite at 108.2°E serving Southeast Asia with Ku-band DTH and enterprise services. SES-9 was launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 that made history as the first to attempt an orbital stage landing at sea — the booster came close but ultimately splashed into the ocean. The satellite provides broadcasting capacity for Indonesia, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian markets where satellite television penetration is growing rapidly.
