GSAT0214 (Galileo 18), completing the historic November 2016 quadruple Galileo launch, brought the constellation past the halfway point toward its planned 30-satellite full operational strength — a launch that European officials specifically framed as proof the program had moved past its early stumbles (including the 2014 Fregat failure) into confident, accelerating deployment. This launch alone added more operational Galileo satellites in a single mission than the entire first three years of the program combined, a visible marker of how dramatically Europe accelerated deployment once the Ariane 5 four-satellite launch method was proven.
