The fourth CYGNSS spacecraft, contributing to the first constellation built specifically to measure wind speeds inside tropical cyclones. Before CYGNSS, meteorologists were essentially blind to inner-core hurricane winds — the data gap responsible for most major hurricane intensity forecast failures. CYGNSS cut that uncertainty by nearly half.
