Qatar's second satellite — famous among radio amateurs worldwide for carrying the first geostationary amateur radio transponder in history, known as QO-100. QO-100's 36 MHz wide transponder allows amateur radio operators from Brazil to India to conduct two-way conversations through the satellite using modest equipment — a historic milestone for global amateur radio, now permanently accessible from the geostationary arc. Es'hail-2 also provides Qatar's commercial Ku and Ka-band communications services.
