A Chinese direct-to-home broadcasting satellite providing Ku-band TV distribution across China. ChinaSat-9B delivers Chinese state and commercial television channels to homes in China's rural and remote regions, including Tibet, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia — areas where satellite TV is often the only access to national television programming and a key tool for national cultural cohesion in linguistically and ethnically diverse territories.
