The companion to Shiyan-12 01, flying in coordination for technology verification purposes. The Shiyan-12 pair represents China's systematic approach to GEO technology validation — launching paired spacecraft to test capabilities requiring two platforms simultaneously. China's proliferating experimental GEO satellite programs (TJS, SJ, Shiyan) collectively form one of the largest experimental geostationary satellite operations in history, advancing capabilities that feed into future commercial and military systems.
