Part of the Yaogan-35 group 05 formation, one of the satellites in China's fifth mixed-sensor reconnaissance group. As this newer generation matured through 2023, it increasingly appeared to be absorbing the ELINT triangulation mission of the older Yaogan-30 program while adding complementary optical and radar sensing that the earlier, more narrowly focused triplets never carried.
