Part of the second Yaogan-36 formation, contributing to China's expanding SAR reconnaissance architecture. Combined, the Yaogan-35 and Yaogan-36 programs represent the newest generation of a Chinese military space surveillance strategy that has evolved from single-sensor ELINT triplets (Yaogan-9 through 31) toward integrated, multi-sensor reconnaissance groups providing naval targeting, all-weather imaging, and signals intelligence from the same coordinated satellite families.
